Press Release 10/09/2009
A presentation evening promoting sea angling in the south east counties of Wicklow and Wexford was held in the Burry Port Yacht Club, Burry Port, Carmarthenshire, South Wales, on Tuesday evening the 8th September.
Organised by the Eastern Regional Fisheries Board and hosted by the “South West Wales Association of Sea Angling Clubs”, SWWASAC, the event dealt with all aspects relating to planning and organising a sea angling holiday within counties Wicklow and Wexford.
Up to date boat and shore angling information, charter boats, angling guides, bait, tackle shops, accommodation, dining, etc, were all dealt with in a comprehensive presentation given by Ashley Hayden, angling marketing coordinator with the ERFB.
Also present were Joe Byrne of the Courtown Angling Centre, and angling guide Kevin Brain, from Waterville, Co. Kerry. Kevin, a native of South Wales, has been living in County Kerry and guiding for Bass since the year 2000.
Ashley, Joe, and Kevin were on hand throughout the evening to answer the many questions proffered from the 60 SWWASAC members who attended on the night.
A raffle was held with all proceeds going to the RNLI. The organisers would like to thank Irish Ferries, The Quay House and the Saltees Hotel, both well known Kilmore Quay establishments, and the Kilmore Quay charter skippers, for their donation of substantial prizes, which included return ferry tickets, accommodation, and days out boat fishing.
Links have been established which will be developed ongoing, and overall the evening was deemed a success, with many who attended considering booking angling holidays in the south east during 2010.
