Annamoe Trout Fisheries News

The Dargle Anglers Fishing Club from Bray Co. Wicklow held their annual Christmas Fly Fishing outing at Annamoe Trout Fishery, Annamoe, Co. Wicklow on Saturday 2nd December.

This was their first get together since they returned from their recent fishing trip to Vancouver, Canada. Twenty one anglers turned out to test their skills at the fishery and some soon realised that catching in a stocked lake is not as easy as it might seem. After four hours, thirty four rainbows were landed, measured and returned safely by the thirteen experienced fly anglers taking part.

Tommy Butler was the winner with seven fish. In second place was Joe Coleman with six trout and Brian Mc Grane was third with six. Trout were generally caught on orange, red and green lures fished on floating lines with sink tip leaders. The atmosphere at the event was of a sociable and sporting nature and enjoyed by all who took part. Steve Sutton, Honorary Secretary of Dargle Angling Club thanked Brian Nally owner/manager of the fishery for his assistance and help in organising the day out for his members.
