The sun shone and the magnet that is Ballyteigue Bay beckoned. Flounder have been obliging this winter and intrepid anglers have made the trip with a view to beaching a lunker flattie. Sunday the 13th of December was no exception, and if the fishing was slow then hey, what better place to spend a day, then with friends in beautiful surroundings.

Irish Daily Star angling columnist David Gray made the trip along with Michael Doyle and Chris McNally from the Greystones Ridge Angling Club. Razorfish, Crab, Mackerel, and Lugworm were the baits, with again Lugworm reigning supreme. The fishing was slow, but a few nice fish did make their presence felt.

John Keane and friends from the Sea Angling Ireland website made the journey also, and again lugworm proved the successful bait. Flounder will frequent the estuary into January before moving out to spawn, so why not pencil in a Christmas holiday session for this obliging and fun species. The location alone is worth the trip.
