Fly Fishing Ireland's East Coast. Salmon and trout fishing.

Flyfishing for trout

The Eastern Region is ideally placed on Ireland's East Coast to offer some of the best trout flyfishing in Europe. From the rivers in Louth to those in Wexford you can fish some of the finest dry fly water for trout, target some of Ireland's biggest river caught sea trout. Incredibly some of the best fishing is only a short drive from Dublin city centre - explore Dublin's flyfishing treasures here.

Bye-law No. 824, 2007 prohibits the use of any fish hooks, other than single barbless hooks, and the use of worms as bait in angling for all species of fish in a number of rivers in the Region; Vartry, Dargle, Liffey (excluding upstream of Pollaphuca dam and the river Dodder), Avoca, Owenavorragh, Slaney, Boyne (the main channel), Kells Blackwater (downstream of the Nine Eyed Bridge), Flurry, Glyde (that part of the river downstream of Castlebellingham Weir), Dee (that part of the river downstream of Cappogue Bridge).
