Fly Fishing in Wexford. Salmon and trout fishing.

Introduction

The county of Wexford is located in Ireland’s ‘sunny south-east’ and anglers can expect to experience great fishing, fantastic scenery and lively entertainment in this area. Game angling for salmon, sea trout and wild brown trout can be found on the River Slaney and its tributaries as well as on the Avoca, Aughrim, Avonmore and the Owenavarragh Rivers.

Anglers wishing to explore the area will find many smaller unexplored rivers which get a good run of sea trout in summer and contain good stocks of small wild brown trout.

Bye-law No. 824, 2007 prohibits the use of any fish hooks, other than single barbless hooks, and the use of worms as bait in angling for all species of fish in the Rivers Avoca, Owenavorragh and Slaney.
